Many people like to keep holiday decorating simple yet elegant. The spotlight is one of the hottest Christmas light for house decoration.

A clean, bright spotlight on the feature would make a great holiday door decoration. If you have a traditional home, this type of Christmas light for house decor would be perfect. Your home could look like a Christmas village house.

The ideal Christmas light for home decorations with a traditional appeal is quite simple. Just imagine a traditional colonial home with white siding and a magnificent red door. Add a green decorated holiday wreath and a spotlight, and you have the makings for a wonderful yet simple holiday design.

If you have a mansion that can hold up to big displays, then choosing a bold Christmas light for house decorations for your home would be a good holiday decorating idea.

If your home has a dark exterior, you may want to consider adding a little more dazzle by using lighting with large bulbs or flashing lights. So, a darker house like a log cabin is best suited for a Christmas light for home holiday decorations that really illuminates the space.

On the other hand, owners of cottage style homes might want to look into purchasing small twinkling lights. My husband and I have a small cottage house and we initially thought that the perfect Christmas light for house decorating would be the big and flashy kind. So, he purchased a bunch of holiday lights for our home and I couldn't wait to see the display.

However, to our dismay, my husband and I were a little overwhelmed by what we saw. Our outside Christmas decoration turned out to be too gaudy, almost to the point of being tacky. The display seemed to swallow up our little cottage and the whole outcome was no less than disappointing. So the lesson we learned is that Christmas light for house decorations should not be bigger than the house itself.

Therefore, we decided to scale down quite a bit. Instead of investing in icicle lights and flashing bulbs we figured that a few strings of twinkling lights would suit our little home much better. Although I love the holiday decorating idea with a lot of glow for the season, I really prefer something a little easier on the eyes. We might still use up our extra Christmas lights for yard decoration as well. Maybe they won't be so overwhelming if they are spread out a little bit. Last year I bought a Christmas yard decoration of Santa riding on his sleigh, and I think some of the Christmas light for house decoration will actually complement it.

One of our neighbors has an animated outdoor Christmas decoration of grazing reindeer which is a really beautiful Christmas yard decoration, and they have some Christmas light for house decor strewn across the lawn, creating a magical effect. You just need to use a bit of imagination to create wonderful things and get into the holiday spirit.

Happy holidays!
